Blue Future

Greetings Blue Fans!

Yes, I’m here and it’s Thursday and it’s time for a bit of fun with this story!

I have to admit I’m a little betwixed and between about what to write about. Oh, I’ve got plenty of ideas, don’t worry about that, but, I’m not certain about the way to end it. The couple gets away (nice and neat)? The does not get away (messy for sure)? Well, let’s dive in and see what you all think.

Marilyn And Tommy

A nice, twenty-something couple with their whole future ahead of them. They had plans. Big ones. A bit of land, maybe ten or possibly twenty acres if they could afford it, a sweet farmhouse, horses, chickens and maybe a cow or two.

It was all dreams and wishes for Marilyn and Tommy. And so, to celebrate their recent engagement, they were going out to a little cafe that served excellent food but wasn’t overly expensive. Tommy was a bit strapped for cash after springing for a ring for Marilyn anyway. He couldn’t afford the diamond solitaire he would love to give her (one day), so instead her got her a blue sapphire ring he luckily found at a flea market.

The whole situation had Tommy feeling lucky anyway. He got Marilyn, somehow, to say yes. A pretty girl, with a good head on her shoulders, and a promising future as an artist. Sure, that line of work was risky, but she had talent and drive and he loved those things about her. For himself he was a trained horse dentist. Yes, you read that right. He stuck his hands into horses’ mouths and messed with whatever bad teeth and gums they might have. Brave of him, right? Or a little nuts?

But today horses with dental problems meant nothing to him. All he could think about was his future with this amazing lady. She was just 21, and he himself was 24, and he felt that life was about as good as it gets being settled and feeling secure so young.

The Blue Door Cafe

A good crowd was there for an ordinary Tuesday night. Tommy followed Bonnie’s, a waitress who worked there, nod to an empty table and took Marilyn by the hand as they walked to a rather romantic place near a window. The sun was setting off in the distance and the sky was turning all those beautiful shades of orange, yellow and red. It couldn’t have been better.

Until a sound came from the large, heavy blue door, for which the cafe was named, that Tommy could not quite describe in his mind. It was like a growl mixed with creaking wood, and a kind of snarl thrown in that was like nothing anyone at the Blue Door had ever heard before.

Bonnie jumped and dropped the tray full of plates she was carrying. Glass broke somewhere. A wall broke open. The last rays of sunlight for the day streamed in and formed what seemed to be a spotlight on Marilyn’s left hand, bringing a kind of fiery glow to the blue sapphire stone that radiated up to the ceiling. That’s when all hell broke loose.

OK. That’s it. Who lives? Who does not?

Big hugs out to all my fans…..have a great day!

I say they live – but maybe they got attacked and one is recovering or something? Love this concept!
